Yonkers Man Charged As Police Find More Than 10,000 Bags Of Heroin

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Greenburgh Police said a routine traffic stop led to the seizure of more than 10,000 bags of heroin and the arrest of a Yonkers woman and a New York City man on Tuesday, according to LoHud.com.

Carolyn Claudio, 45, of Yonkers and Julio Vargas, 48, of New York City were pulled over by the Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force and officers said they found nine bags of heroin on the pair, LoHud.com reported. 

A subsequent search discovered 10,683 bags of heroin in a concealed area of the vehicle, police said. Claudio and Vargas were charged with first- and second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

They are being held without bail in the Westchester County Jail and are due back in court on April 22, LoHud.com said.
