First Consolidation Of Westchester Churches Announced

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Most Holy Trinity Church parishioners learned late Saturday afternoon that their church will merge with St. Vito's Church, also in Mamaroneck, according to LoHud.com, as word of the parish closings and consolidations as the result of a review process by the Archdiocese of New York starts to become public.

Holy Trinity's pastor, the Rev. Robert Henry, read a letter from Cardinal Timothy Dolan during the 5 p.m. Mass, according to the report. 

Other parish closings and consolidations are expected to be announced as soon as Sunday.

According to reports, as many as 50 New York Archdiocese parishes are in danger of being closed or consolidated, including locations in Dobbs Ferry, Hastings-On-Hudson, Irvington, Mount Vernon, Port Chester, Sleepy Hollow and Yonkers in addition to Mamaroneck.
