With Butler's pledge, the total amount of reward money now offered in the case is $25,000.
“It is so tragic that we have human beings among us that are capable of committing such a heinous and heartless crime," Butler said in a statement. "Surely there is someone out there that knows who has done this. Please do the right thing and come forward to get this coward off the streets.”
The SPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement Unit, under the direction of Ernest Lungaro, is still conducting an investigation of the incident in which 25 dead cats were found in plastic grocery-type bags, hanging from a tree at 14 Overlook Terrace.
The SPCA is working in conjunction with the Yonkers Police Major Case Squad, Yonkers Police Field Intelligence Office, as well as the District Attorney’s Office in an ongoing investigation to bring the person or people responsible to justice.
