On Thursday afternoon, New York State Police Trooper Melissa McMorris warned that it would be in the public’s best interest to avoid roadways to allow crews to clean up the area safely and swiftly.

According to the National Weather Service, parts of the area received as much as a foot of snowfall accumulation Thursday. Though any remaining snow will end by nightfall, with winds picking up, roads should remain slick and black ice is a concern overnight into Friday morning.
