Ardsley Teen TJ Lyons' Eagle Project Aids Yonkers Animal Shelter

ARDSLEY, N.Y. -- TJ Lyons, a senior at Ardsley High School who is working on his Eagle Scout project, is collecting items for the Yonkers Animal Shelter, particularly towels, dog and cat toys and dog and cat food.

With the permission of the village of Ardsley and the cooperation of the parks and recreation director, Lyons has set up a collection box in the foyer of the Community Center at 18 Center St. The box will be in place through the end of October.

"I have actually loved animals my entire life, and I feel passionately about the abuse they suffer across the globe," said Lyons.

"I find it deeply disturbing that people could do such things to these innocent, helpless creatures. With my project I hope that I can help improve the lives of animals, even if only those at one shelter. Any help is important."

The box will only be accessible when the Community Center is open, generally Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., or during evening or weekend events. If you have questions about the Community Center's hours, call 914-693-8012. To ask questions about the Eagle Scout project, contact Lyons at tjlyons135@gmail.com or at 914-693-9591.
