YONKERS, N.Y. -- A 21-year-old Yonkers man who was revived after suffering a heart attack while playing basketball at Coyne Park reunited with the members of the Yonkers Police Department, Empress Ambulance and Westchester Medical Center staff who helped save his life at "Hearts and Heroes," held recently at Westchester Medical Center.
James Murphy passed out on a basketball court on Easter Sunday 2013 and had to be revived using CPR and an automated external defibrillator by Yonkers police. He has since made a full recovery in what has locally been dubbed "the Easter Miracle."
"Technology and rapid response by our first responders proved to be the key in this life saving incident," a Westchester Medical Center spokesperson said in a statement. "Through this experience, members of the Yonkers Police Department and James Murphy have established a great friendship that continues to this day. Great job by all involved and it was great to spend some time with our friend James Murphy, a true survivor."
