James Trosino and Robert Alan's brick mansion-style home on North Broadway won "Best Exterior." Claritza Medina received the Creative Award for her Old Style home on Landscape Avenue. Robert and Maria Barbieri received the Landscaping Award for their home on Gramatan Drive.
Trosino and Alan's home was built in 1910 by nationally-known architect Wilson Eyre Jr., perhaps the most prominent American architect of his time. It is the only known work of Eyre Jr.’s in Westchester County. Trosino and Alan’s home might have been torn down prior to their purchase of it in 2008 if not for the actions taken by the Yonkers Landmarks Preservation Board and the Yonkers City Council which designated the structure as a landmark in 2007, according to the release.
“In Yonkers, our neighborhoods are filled with beautiful homes of every design and style,” Spano said in the release. “Through our Curb Appeal Awards, we are not only recognizing the hard work and dedication of the three recipients, but also showcasing Yonkers’ beautiful homes and neighborhoods to the region and beyond.”
