Held across the country, the "night out" is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Yonkers police will hold events at four precincts including:
- 1st Precinct - Andrus Field, Central Avenue south of Tuckahoe Road - 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
- 2nd Precinct - Coyne Park, McLean Avenue - 6 to 9 p.m.
- 3rd Precinct - Sullivan's Oval, Bryant Road - 5 to 8 p.m.
- 4th Precinct - Kennedy Marina, Warburton Avenue - 5 to 9 p.m.
Events include an assortment of entertainment, vendors, children's activities, and free handouts at each location.
The Yonker's theme for 2017 is recruitment. The department is looking for recruits and will have officers on scene to answer questions.
