Yonkers Mayor, Police Commissioner Donate Footballs To Church Youth Group

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and Police Commissioner Charles Gardner recently distributed NFL footballs to the youth group at St. Peter's Church.

Gardner obtained the footballs through the NFL, which donated them to be distributed to youth groups in Yonkers.

So far more than 250 footballs have been donated through this program to youth sports groups in Yonkers including the PAL, the North Yonkers Boys and Girls Club, and the Nepperhan Community Center.

The Rev. Shane Johnson from St. Peter's thanked the city and the Police Department for the footballs, which will be used in an after-school sports program that takes place in the church gym.
