Yonkers Honors 'Pat' Birkenfeld On 100th Birthday

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Mayor Mike Spano sent a birthday cake and a proclamation to the Cola Senior Center honoring Jacinta "Pat" Birkenfeld on her 100th birthday recently.

On hand to celebrate the occasion were: Steve Sansone, Parks Department deputy commissioner; representatives from Assemblywoman Shelley Mayer's and Spano's offices; Councilman Michael Sabatino; Marian Marji of the Parks Department; Cynthia Eisner principal of School 16 (her daughter); and members of the Senior Center. 

Birkenfeld was a nurse for the Veterans Affairs hospital until 1974. She was a first lieutenant in the Army Air Force from 1943-46 during World War II and she has  bachelor's and master's degrees from New York University.
