Yonkers Businessman Receives Soccer Club's Recognition Award

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers accountant Paul Tuffy was recently recognized for his contributions to Lansdowne Bhoys Football Club, the Bronx-based soccer organization said.

Tuffy, owner of Tuffy & Associates on McLean Avenue, is a native of County Sligo in Ireland. He is, the club said, a well-known businessman in the heavily Irish section of the city.

He was given a plaque in honor of his “championing” of the club’s application for non-profit status, said club president William McGrory. The award ceremony took place at the club’s annual dinner-dance, held at The Rambling House, a popular Irish spot in the Bronx.

“It is an understatement to say that without his input and drive behind this idea, it would not have happened,” McGrory said.

According to McGrory, the club has been involved in New York City’s Cosmopolitan Men’s Soccer League since 1997. It entered the league’s premier section in 2002 and was recently chosen as its winner for the second year in a row.

Its reserve team also won its division this year, McGrory said.
