Scarsdale Urologist Selected For National Health Committee

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Scarsdale's Dr. Thomas Rechtshaffen has been selected to join a national committee for the American Urological Association.

Rechtshaffen is among three doctors selected to join committees from the Advance Urology Centers of New York. The other doctors included Dr. Elliot M. Paul, MD, FACS (Lake Success Division) and Dr. Marc Schumer, MD, FACS.

“AUCNY physicians represent some of the country’s top urologists – we are very pleased that a prestigious organization like the American Urological Association recognizes the leadership ability displayed by our physicians,” said Deepak A. Kapoor, MD, President of Advanced Urology Centers of New York.

Rechtschaffen, a member of AUCNY’s Quality Management Committee, is a resident of Elmsford and will become a voting member of the Legislative Affairs Committee. As part of his new position, he will help provide feedback to staff on the continual refinement of the legislative agenda and its execution while representing the AUA on Capitol Hill, home districts, regulatory bodies and to the White House. Rechtschaffen is on staff at Montefiore Medical Center, St. John’s Riverside Hospital, Lawrence Hospital Center, and White Plains Hospital Center. He is a frequent invited lecturer both to physicians and community groups about better ways to recognize and treat urological issues.

“These doctors have worked to make our practice one of the leading urology groups in the country - I am confident that the broader urologic community will benefit from their knowledge and expertise as well,” said Dr. Kapoor.
