More than 200 patrons and supporters were in attendance and $40,000 was raised.
"This has been a hallmark year for Lifting Up Westchester,” remarked Paul Anderson-Winchell, Lifting Up Westchester’s executive director.
“Yes, we stayed true to our mission of restoring hope to our neighbors in need,” added Helen Hamlyn, Board President. Highlights of the night were tributes offered to this year’s honorees, chef Peter X. Kelly and 38 year volunteer, Carolyn Rogers.
Kelly was honored for his longtime philanthropic contributions to a wide range of nonprofit agencies, including Lifting Up Westchester. An example of a successful businessman who selflessly gives back to his community, this past year Kelly hosted “An Evening to Remember” at Grace’s Kitchen, which allowed Westchester’s homeless individuals to experience a wonderful night of gracious hospitality.
His efforts have helped to feed the hungry, teach children about healthy eating, and provide culinary training and new career opportunities to lift individuals to a brighter future.
Carolyn Rogers was honored for 38 years of volunteer service to support the work of Lifting Up Westchester. As a registered nurse, her medical interventions continue to save client and staff lives. Her many other volunteer activities have included 20 years as coordinator of the Grace Church Holiday Volunteers who provide meals at Grace’s Kitchen on six major holidays throughout the year.
Lifting Up Westchester provides the following assistance to Westchester County’s neediest and most at-risk residents: homeless individuals, youth, seniors, disabled individuals. For more information, visit this link or contact Chris Schwartz at cschwartz@liftingupwestchester.org or 914-949-3098.
