Beginning in 1978, Flavio and Maria LaRocca have run the day-to-day operation of the family business, which specializes in site development, exterior restorations, paving, drainage and landscaping throughout Westchester County.
Flavio said he was motivated to help the school because of the great learning environment his four children have experienced at the Montessori school since 2007.
The school, which has students from kindergarten to eighth-grade, was recently granted a permit to convert a private residence into classrooms so it could expand to include seventh- and eighth-grade students. The expansion is expected increase enrollment by 20 to 25 students.
During several phases of the expansion, LaRocca & Sons Inc. donated materials and labor to upgrade the school’s parking lot.
“We are proud of our children’s academic accomplishments thanks to the school’s nurturing environment,” LaRocca said.
Paul Casey, director of education at the school, said the LaRoccas' contribution of man hours helped defray the cost of the entire project.
“They have done great quality work and are great at what they do,” Casey said.
Casey added that the LaRoccas also helped with cleanup of the school grounds following Hurricane Sandy. “They worked with great speed to avoid putting the children in any danger,” he said.
LaRocca said Casey’s hard work along with Headmaster Mark Meyer, School Director Megin Meyer and personnel continue to be a motivating factor to keep his children at the school, which he considers “wonderful.”
“We would like to thank them for their personal attention and desire to make the school a better environment not only for our children, but for all of the Montessori families,” he said.
