The event was held in honor of National Heart Month and the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” day.

Free information, blood pressure, cholesterol, and BMI (body mass index) screenings were available, as well as a lecture and cooking demonstration with the hospital’s nutrition team and Dr. Anthony Mercando, a cardiologist with NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Westchester.

Participants enjoyed a healthy dessert alternative during the class and learned about tweaking favorite recipes.
