HASTINGS, N.Y. -- With their Oscars pools ready, Academy Award viewers met at Hastings' Rainwater Grill Sunday night to see who the bigger winners together.
"I'm really excited about Christoph Waltz for 'Django,'" said Yessie Granda, shortly after Waltz's win for Best Supporting Actor. "I'm happy about that and now I want Bradley Cooper to get Best Actor for 'Silver Lining Playbook.' I hope he gets that one."
Daniel Day-Lewis ended up winning for Best Actor for his performance in 'Lincoln.'
Anne Hathaway took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Linda Castaldo, who was also at Rainwater Grill, had been crossing her fingers for the various 'Les Miserables' wins, three in total.
"I'm most looking forward to seeing how Anne Hathaway does; she's my favorite actress," Castaldo said. "'Les Mis' is what I liked best this year."
Mike Meyer, who was certain he would not win the pool, said he wanted 'Argo' to get Best Picture - and it did.
"I think Ben Affleck should have won for Best Director, so I hope he does for something else."
Best Director, for which Ben Affleck had not received a nomination, went to Ang Lee for 'Life of Pi.'
The group enjoyed Oscar-themed drink specials while marking their pools. One of the creations was the 'Life of Pi' martini, made of Apple Orient Absolute vodka and simple syrup.
Carolyn Frankel came to the party all the way from Manhattan.
"I'm also really happy about Chris Waltz for Supporting Actor, even though he's not who I voted for in my pool," Frankel said. "For some reason I don't choose based on my gut feeling, though I probably should. But I just love doing Oscar pools - one year I won $500."
