The study measured six categories, including education, median household income, unemployment rate, life expectancy and disability rate to rank which counties in the United States are difficult to live in, according to the New York Times.

The study revealed the 10 most difficult places in which to live include six cities in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky. Westchester County ranked 98 of 3,135, according to the report.

While counties in the Appalachians were ranked low due to disability numbers, when disability isn't the prominent factor and education is, counties located in Mississippi land lower on the rankings than in Kentucky, the report said.

Some of the top 10 counties listed include suburbs in the state of Washington, but the No. 1-ranked county was Los Alamos County, N.M., according to the report.
