Transition's EP, Living for a Dream, consists of all original music. These four friends who grew up in Yonkers have attended school together. Now after college, these four friends are pursuing their dream in the music business.

Transition's members are: Matt Borsellino (guitarist), Joe Duncker (guitarist), Colin Albanese (vocalist) and Ryan McComb (drummer).

They started playing in 2002 in the basement of McComb's house.

"Transition sort of formed backwards,"  said Albanese. "The four of us had decided to get together in Ryan’s basement and play our old high school cover tunes on a night when we were bored. We ended up playing a bit of an extended jam session instead, until Matt played a guitar riff that had us hooked."

Said Borsellino: “Everyone was feeling very relaxed and we just started jamming. I started playing a riff on guitar and was surprised when I heard Colin starting to sing. Five minutes later we had a song. Transition had started."

"Most bands form, then write songs – we did it the other way around," said Albanese.

Transition's name was first suggested by Joe and was turned down by band, then they booked their first show and they needed a name to promote and decided on Transition. After that show the members looked back and saw how different their music was and they felt that the band's name fit perfectly.

Transition has played at different venues over the past two years – including a benefit for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, private events, and a number of events around Yonkers, and an “underground” music venue or two.

“The songwriting process is a completely collaborative process. It started with a jam session, until we stumbled upon a riff or a groove that we like," said McComb. "Sometimes Joe or Matt will come prepared with an idea, and we’ll play with it as a band, repeating sections over and over while Colin sits across the room and listens.

"Colin is the melody master – having written most of the lyrics and vocal melodies to our music. Matt consistently comes in with “the key” in a song, musically or lyrically.

"Ryan usually worries about the details once the basics are in place. It’s great to listen to the album and be able to point out where each band member’s lyric or music idea made it into the song."

Transition's debut EP, titled Living for a Dream, was released on January 4, 2015, and is now available for listening and purchase on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and other internet retailers.
