Thousands Expected to ‘Go the Distance’ At WMC Walk And Fun Day

VALHALLA, N.Y. -- The 12th Annual Go the Distance Walk & Family Fun Day benefiting Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital will be held this Sunday. Maria Fareri is a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network and a children’s hospital for the Hudson Valley and Fairfield County.

The walk will be held on Sunday, May 1 beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the first steps set to be taken at 9:30.

Thousands of local families and community groups will participate in the event’s signature walk around the Westchester Medical Center campus.

Before and after the walk a DJ will entertain participants as they enjoy a host of family- friendly games and activities. Radio personalities Mike Bennett and Kacey Morabito Grean of the “Mike & Kacey in the Morning” show on 100.7 WHUD-FM will serve as event co-hosts.

Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital is located on the campus of Westchester Medical Center at 100 Woods Road, Valhalla.

This year's Grand Marshal is Eli Whittaker, 5, who was born at just 24 weeks, weighed a little more than a pound and had a list of life threatening medical issues longer than his entire body. Today, he is healthy and happy, As the 2016 Go the Distance Grand Marshal, Eli will represent the more than 20,000 local children cared for by Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital services each year.
