The Habitat for Humanity ReStore will reuse, recycle and repurpose any variety of salvaged materials and donations which will then be sold back to homeowners at reasonable, fair prices, allowing all Westchester residents to live comfortably and affordably.

The 10,000-square-foot ReStore, which is one of 800 similar Habitat for Humanity locations around the country, features everything from antiques and vintage items to house ware and furnishings.

According to Jennifer Lanser, communications director for the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, “the ReStore was ‘green’ before it was fashionable, and their prices are always reasonable.”

“They have many antiques, cabinets, appliances, home furnishings and recycled treasures, some of which are from sets of various televisions shows and furniture from famous artists born in New Rochelle,” she noted. “Production companies have already inquired about buying furniture for their sets.”

Following a successful grand opening last week, the ReStore celebrated its place in the community on Black Friday, with a series of bands and carolers serenading shoppers and Habitat volunteers alike with festive holiday hits.

Habitat Director Jim Killoran, who spearheaded the movement to get the ReStore up and running swiftly, said that the new location allows them to further connect with the people of New Rochelle, which they’ve long called home.

“We have been in historic Main Street for years, and now we introduce the greenest store in all of Westchester,” he said. “Having hired from New Rochelle, generated sales tax and jobs, and rehabbed homes and a community center, we continue celebrating Habitat’s gift to New Rochelle with this ReStore.”
