YONKERS, N.Y. -- "Bel Canto," the Ann Patchett novel about a world-renown opera singer who becomes trapped in a hostage situation, is filming at Alder Manor in Yonkers, according to OnLocation Vacations.
The long-in-the-works adaptation of the bestselling 2001 novel, stars Julianne Moore, Ken Watanabe and Christopher Lambert.
Filming took place Feb. 16 and 17 and is going on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
Alder Manor, also known as the W. B. Thompson Mansion, is a historic home located on North Broadway (U.S. Route 9). In 1982, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, according to Wikipedia.
The home was also used as the setting for "Mona Lisa Smile" and "A Beautiful Mind."
