The April meet-up, scheduled for Wednesday, April 23 at the Yonkers Riverfront Library, will feature Julie Cottineau, former vice president of brand for the Virgin Group North America.

Cottineau, now the founder and CEO of Brand Twist and the Brand School Online, will discuss how to identify and improve company brand identities, using her experience working for Richard Branson at Virgin along with many other prestigious companies.

Yonkers resident Peter Boodell, founder and chair of YONY Initiative, said he believes that online, we are all in charge of our own brand or brands.

"As small business owners, it is our responsibility to best position our ideas in the marketplace," he said. "Julie has great experience in this area with specific tools and techniques and should lead a highly interactive forum which I am confident will be engaging."

Boodell added that the goal of these meet-ups is for everyone to learn something useful and meet someone new.

This will be the YONY Initiative's fourth meet-up. Each meet-up features a speaker and networking hour geared towards promoting business in Yonkers, which Boodell believes is a rich and promising landscape.

"Yonkers Downtown Waterfront has a competitive advantage on other business districts in Westchester." he said. "The YONY Initiative believes that Yonkers and our neighboring river towns are positioned to become an emerging new creative business corridor along the Hudson River."

Networking will begin at 6:30 p.m. and Cottineau’s talk will start at 7:15 p.m. YONY Initiative meet-ups are open to the public. Attendees must join at the event's Meetup.com page ahead of time. Early registration is $10, $15 at the door.

The Yonkers Riverfront Library is located at 1 Larkin Plaza.
