Yonkers' Sister To Sister Explores Empowerment At Conference

YONKERS, N.Y. – Sister to Sister International of Yonkers will host a conference at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Black Women & the Girl-Child Empowerment Conference will feature Avis A. Jones-DeWeever, the founder of the Exceptional Leadership Institute for Women and the author of “How Exceptional Black Woman Lead,” as the keynote speaker.

The event includes a continental breakfast, followed by an opening plenary, luncheon, intergenerational workshops, a business expo and plenty of networking opportunities.

The workshops will touch on subjects like health and wellness, education, financial planning, healthy cooking, politics, criminal justice, career planning and many others.

Mercy College is at 555 Broadway in Dobbs Ferry.

Tickets for the event range from $50 (general admission), $20 (ages 12 to 18) to $20 (college students with ID).
