Yonkers To Ring In Christmas Season With Tree Lighting

YONKERS, N.Y. – The city will kick off its holiday season Thursday with its annual tree-lighting ceremony in Getty Square, bringing plenty of holiday cheer to Yonkers.

Hosted by the Downtown Business Improvement District and the City of Yonkers, the ceremony will start at 4 p.m. at Main and New Main streets.

The two-hour event will feature the lighting of a 25-foot tree and will have live holiday music, performances by the Yonkers Idol winners and an appearance by the most popular man this time of year – Santa Claus.

In addition, the Downtown Business Improvement District will present its Business Recognition Award.
