The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Riverfront Library, Community Room B, 1 Larkin Plaza.

The forum will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Sprain Brook Manor nursing staff say that they have been trying to negotiate with the owners for four years to allocate money that will alleviate the problems.

They point to serious health-care problems among Sprain Brook Manor residents:

  • the worst rate of pressure sores of any nursing home in Westchester County and the fourth worst in New York State
  • the worst rate of urinary tract infections of any nursing home in Westchester County

Sprain Brook workers say that these poor patient outcomes can be tied to high staff turnover and that substandard working conditions create a revolving door of inexperienced staff who do their best to provide care under challenging circumstances, but are unable to provide the best care. The employees are asking for help to shift the owners’ priorities to investment in quality care and fair working conditions.
