Yonkers' Empire City Hosts Golden Gloves Boxing Event

YONKERS, N.Y. – Three championship bouts and a trio of semifinal events will highlight the fifth consecutive year of the historic New York Daily News Golden Gloves at Empire City Casino on Wednesday.

The Golden Gloves will be contested on the casino’s fourth floor.

In the 112-pound Female Championship, Ivette Delgado, of Yonkers, will square off against Michelle Viglione, of Mount Vernon, in an “All-Westchester” finale; in the 114-pound Novice Championship, Deshane Burgess (West N.Y.C) takes on Carlos Vanegas (West N.Y.C); and in the 176 Female Championship, Krystal Dixon (West N.Y) faces Joy Rotstein (Brooklyn).

Here are the participants in the semifinals: 106 Female: Ajwani Neena –N.Y.C, Brittany Delgado – Long Island, Natalie Gonzalez – West N.Y.C and Juliette Lasdisa – Bronx;152 Open: Brian Ceballo – Brooklyn, Jose Collazo – Staten Island, Tyrone James – Long Island, and Gledwin Ortiz – N.Y.C; and in the 165 Open: James Abraham – N.Y.C, Chordale Booker – Brooklyn, Aaron Katzman – Upstate N.Y., and Ronniel Vargas – Bronx.

General Admission tickets are $25; policemen, firemen, senior citizens, students and children under 14 are $15 (with proper ID).
