The park is near the intersection of McLean and Central Park avenues.

The ceremony will include the honorable retirement of the American flag currently flying in the park, the raising of a new flag, the roll call of the states, cannon salutes, patriotic music and presentations by dignitaries in attendance.

The flag flies next to a beam from the World Trade Center and tribute will be paid to those lost during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Smyth said.

Scouts will also accept any retired flags for “proper, honorable” disposal, he added.

Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the ceremony.
