Friday, Aug. 10

Jazz and Blues at Dusk: 6:30 p.m. The summer concert series continues with “Joe Abba & The Identity Crisis.” Yonkers Amphitheatre, end of Main Street.

Free Friday Nights: 5 p.m. Free admission to the Hudson River Museum and free planetarium show at 7 p.m. Inside you can enjoy exhibits such as “Gilded Age Magic” and “Westchester Women & War: Portraits.” Hudson River Museum, 511 Warburton Ave.

Jazz at the Hudson River Museum: 6:30 p.m. Looking for a little more jazz in your weekends? Check out “Ralph Lalama/Harvie S. Quintet featuring Nicole Pasternak,” in the second of a three week series of Jazz concerts at the Hudson River Museum. Courtyard, Hudson River Museum, 511 Warburton Ave.

Teddy Bear Picnic: 10:30 a.m. Children are invited to listen to stories and songs about teddy bears and bring their own teddy bear for the picnic. Yonkers Public Library, Riverfront Branch, 1 Larkin Center.

Volunteer Appreciation Picnic: 6 p.m. Groundwork Hudson Valley and the Saw Mill River Coalition want to thank volunteers and program participants with a free picnic in the Daylighted River Park. Daylighted Saw Mill River Park, 1 Larkin Center.

Date Night – Havanna Nights: 6:30 p.m. Bring someone special and head to a night of food, fun and romance at Ridge Hill. In this Cuban Cuisine cooking class, you can master Cuban flavors and learn about the special ingredients that make the food unique. Admission is $79 per person. Sur La Table - Ridge Hill, 167 Ridge Hill Road.

Saturday, Aug. 11

Chesapeake Light Craft Demo Day: 11 a.m. Test paddle various designs of wooden boats and talk to designers during the Chesapeake Light Craft Demo Day. Beczak Environmental Education Center’s Hudson River beach, 35 Alexander St.

WorldFest 2012: 7:30 p.m. Untermyer Park’s music and dance journey around the world continues with a performance of “Flamenco With Grit featuring Flamenco Latino.” Admission is free. Bring your own seat. Untermyer Park, 945 N. Broadway.

Saturday Movies at Your Library: 2 p.m. Enjoy a free showing of “Red Tails,” a story of the mostly African-American pilots in the Tuskegee training program. The group deals with issues of segregation during World War II before suddenly being called into duty. Yonkers Public Library, Riverfront Branch, 1 Larkin Center.  

Sunday, Aug. 12

Essential Knife Skills: Noon. Join expert instructors and learn basic knife skills for the cutting board. Learn how to dice, mince, julienne and batonnet as you sharpen your cutlery techniques. Sur La Table - Ridge Hill, 167 Ridge Hill Road.

Magic Sundays: 1 p.m. Enjoy live magic tricks at the Hudson River Museum in the final week of the exhibition. Acts performed by the Yonkers Society of American Magicians Assembly 194. Hudson River Museum, 511 Warburton Ave.

Art and Science Sundays: Blue Crab Blitz: Noon. The Science Barge’s summer activity calendar continues with “Blue Crab Blitz.” Try your hand at catching crabs and learn about the barge. Science Barge, 99 Dock St.  

Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo Live in Concert: 6:30 p.m. The Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway’s summer concert series continues with a trackside performance by Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway, 810 Yonkers Ave.
