What's Happening In Yonkers This Weekend

YONKERS, N.Y. – From Riverfest to music in the square, here’s what’s happening around Yonkers this weekend. Check out our events page for more listings.

Friday, Sept. 7

Music in the Square: Noon. The monthly Friday afternoon concerts continue in Getty Square.  Admission is free. Getty Square, downtown Yonkers. 

Free Friday Nights: 5 p.m. Now in its final week, enjoy free admission to the Hudson River Museum and free planetarium show at 7 p.m. Inside you can enjoy exhibits such as “Gilded Age Magic” and “Westchester Women & War: Portraits.” Hudson River Museum, 511 Warburton Ave.

Saturday, Sept. 8

Opening Reception: Street Art: 2 p.m. The Blue Door Gallery celebrates the opening of its newest exhibit, Street Art. There, a collection of photography, murals, stencils and graffiti works will be on display until Oct. 13. On Saturday, visitors will also be able to participate in an interactive opening. 20th Anniversary of Riverfest: Noon to 8 p.m. One of Westchester’s most popular street celebrations is here. Enjoy an all-day event in the city with free events including music, face painting, jugglers, classic cars and food. The opening of Van der Donck Park near the newly daylighted Saw Mill River will kick off the celebration at noon.  Larkin Plaza, 1 Larkin Center.

Sunday, Sept. 9

Bicycle Sundays: 10 a.m. Running through six cities and towns, including Yonkers, bikers can ride through this 13.1-mile loop. The event has attracted as many as 60,000 participants over the course of its rides in May, June and September. Parking is available at Westchester County Center, 198 Central Park Ave., White Plains.

Art & Science Sundays: Blue Crab Blitz: Noon. The Science Barge’s summer activity calendar continues with “Blue Crab Blitz.” Try your hand at catching crabs and learn about the barge. Science Barge, 99 Dock St.
