Saturday, Dec. 22

Toys Distribution Event: Noon to 4 p.m. The Dominican Cultural Association of Yonkers has collected toys for the community and Saturday, along with City Council Majority Leader Wilson Terrero, will distribute the gifts to children 8 years old and under.  Anyone is welcome to stop by with their child and pick up a free toy. Holiday Help:  10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Yonkers-based Afya Foundation, an international crisis relief responder, is teaming up with City Council President Chuck Lesnick to collect supplies for communities affected by Hurricane Sandy. They are asking residents bring such things as toiletries, flashlights, canned foods and cleaning supplies to 140 Saw Mill River Road on Saturday. Santa will be there too, serving hot chocolate and donuts to visitors. For a complete list of requested donation items, visit the Afya Foundation website.

Listen to Dickens’ Writings: 1, 2 and 3 p.m. The Hudson River Museum’s Story Circle event continues as members of The Friends of Dickens read two of Charles Dickens’ classic stories, “A Christmas Carol” and “The Goblins Who Stole a Sexton.”  Hudson River Museum, 511 Warbuton Ave.
