What To Do In Yonkers This Week

Monday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 22

School’s Out, Stars Are In: 1-4 p.m. The Hudson River Museum is hosting creative activities and planetarium shows for students while they are on school break.  Learn about things like the tide and flow of the Hudson River, muskrats, marshes, and Hudson Plants. Make your own cattail or marsh bird as well. Activities and planetarium show are free with museum admission but students must be accompanied by a caregiver. Hudson River Museum, 1500 Warburton Ave.

Wednesday, Feb. 20

Fun Free Family Film: ParaNorman: 2 p.m. Watch a screening of "ParaNorman," a PG film from the makers of Coraline. In the 93-minute film, a boy named Norman uses his special powers to save his town from a centuries-old curse. Watch him deal with zombies, ghosts and witches. No registration. Auditorium, Will Branch of Yonkers Public Library, 15000 Central Park Ave.

Thursday, Feb. 21

Celebrate African American History Through Poetry: 4 p.m. Join the Yonkers Public Library as it continues the city’s celebration of Black History month. On Thursday, Najuma the Storyteller will lead discussion as you visitors delve into poetry from slavery to present. Visitors also will write their own free verse poems and tell their our own stores by reflecting upon the poems of black poets from different times in American History. Room 2B, Yonkers Riverton Library, 1 Larkin Center.
