Vietnam Vet Tribute Part Of WorldFest 2014's July Lineup

YONKERS, N.Y. -- A tribute to Vietnam War veterans kicks off the July schedule of free outdoor concerts sponsored by the Untermyer Performing Arts Council.

Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. each Saturday at Untermyer Park, 945 N. Broadway, Yonkers.

The July schedule includes the following: 

Saturday, July 5, A Tribute to Vietnam Veterans, Back to the Garden 1969: At the Woodstock Music Festival in August 1969, musicians performed songs of deep feeling and conviction that spoke to a generation. The group “Back to the Garden” invites concertgoers to “come back to the music, come back to the magic, come back to the garden.”.

Saturday, July 12, A WorldFest Symphonic Tour with the Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra: Under the baton of guest conductor Barry Araujo Kolman, the evening’s highlights will include works by Leonard Bernstein, Giuseppe Verdi, Hector Berlioz, Aaron Copeland, Ludwig von Beethoven and John Philip Sousa.

Saturday, July 19, New Rochelle Opera’s Italian/American Fusion: Founded in 1982, the New Rochelle Opera's mission is presenting imaginative and appealing productions for the people of Westchester County. At the Italian/American Fusion concert, professional soloists will perform selections from famous Italian operas and operettas.  Rounding out the evening’s program will be a collection of perennially popular Broadway show tunes.

Saturday, July 26, Thalia Spanish Dance Theatre: Thalia Spanish Dance Theatre will present an evening of traditional Latin American dance and music featuring authentic costumes and instruments.
