State Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins is partnering with local groups to promote the garden located at 94 Woodworth Ave.
Local gardening experts will be on hand from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, to answer questions and to drum up volunteers for future growing endeavours.
There will be free classes on nutrition and a talk on the basics of planting and harvesting, Stewart-Cousins said.
Refreshments will also be served.
Organizations participating in the event include: Food Bank of Westchester; Greyston, a nonprofit bakery that offers employments opportunities; Groundwork of Hudson, which organizes environmental projects in struggling communities; and Sarah Lawrence College.
Land for the garden was donated by Max Braun & Sons, a longtime local processer of meats and produce.
The garden is located behind the Max Braun & Sons building.
