Visitors will learn about the program that helps men and women with intellectual/developmental disabilities hone their skills to increase their independence.
Adults in the program can be excellent volunteers for community organizations.
“The men and women in our program have some great skills and talents that they would love to share with the community,” said Casheif Belvin, Assistant Director of Community Programs, Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Services, at Leake & Watts.
“We work one-on-one with each adult to help them create goals and chart a path to reach their fullest potential. Whether that’s through supported employment, volunteering, or simply being part of community events, our approach is person-centered and individualized.”
Neighbors, officials, and community businesses and organizations are invited to this free meet-and-greet event at 11 a.m. at 2 Cortlandt St., Mount Vernon.
There will be refreshments.
