It happened at around 8:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 in Lake Ronkonkoma, Suffolk County Police.

The man, who lives in East Patchogue, was operating a 1993 Harley Davidson eastbound on Portion Road, near Foster Road, when the motorcycle collided with a westbound 2009 Hyundai Elantra driven by William Symons, 61, of Ronkonkoma. 

The man was thrown from the motorcycle to the roadway where he was struck by an eastbound 2008 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Kathleen Burrows, 56, of Centereach.

The motorcyclist, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Symons and Burrows were not injured.

All three vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
