Westport Author Shares Experiences About Her Life In Nigeria At Library

WESTON, Conn. -- Author Catherine Onyemelukwe will visit the Weston Library to speak about Nigeria on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Onyemelukwe, a Westport resident, will discuss the current political situation in Nigeria as well as her recent  memoir, "Nigeria Revisited: My Life and Loves Abroad."

She went to Nigeria as a Peace Corps volunteer in 1962 and wound up staying for 24 years. She married a Nigerian and adopted the country as her own. 

Onyemelukwe will also address the current political situation in Nigeria as well as its history, legacy of colonialism and culture. Additionally, she will provide perspective on the tragic kidnapping of the Chibok school girls and their captors, the Boko Haram.

Weston Library's Lunch and Learn is open to the community and admission is free. Attendees must bring their own lunch. 

The Weston Library is located at 56 Norfield Road.
