Harrison Meet-and-Greet Includes Rogowsky Farewell

HARRISON, N.Y. - A political meet-and-greet scheduled for next week will give local voters one last chance to thank retired County Legislator Martin Rogowsky in Harrison. The former legislator will be only one of many area politicians open for public discussion.

The event, organized by the League of Women Voters of Harrison and the Friends of the Harrison Public Library, is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 22 at the 2 Bruce Ave. library.

"It's been my pleasure to serve for all of these years," Rogowsky said. "I'm coming through for a chance to say thank you."

In a farewell breakfast last month in downtown Harrison, Rogowsky became choked up while giving thanks to local seniors.

Rogowsky served as a county legislator from 1990 to 1993 and was brought back to the position in November 2003 after returning to the board of legislators in May 2002.

He has served on the boards of several local organizations including the Federated Conservationists of Westchester County, the American Cancer Society, the Port Chester Carver Center, the Port Chester/Rye Brook Chamber of Commerce, the American Jewish Committee and the Jewish Community Center of Harrison. He also coached soccer, basketball and softball for the Harrison Recreation Department.

Other elected officials involved in the meeting will be Mayor/Supervisor Ron Belmont, board members Steve Malfitano, Marlane Amelio, Joe Cannella and Fred Sciliano, Town Clerk Jacqueline Greer, and Town Judges Nelson Canter and Marc Lust.

County officials will also be in attendance including County Executive Robert Astorino, legislators David Gelfarb, Judy Myers and Bill Ryan, Senator Suzi Oppenheimer, Assemblyman Robert Castelli and Congresswoman Nita Lowey.

The meet-and-greet is available to all. For more information, residents can call Lola Geiger at (914) 939-7066.
