GREENBURGH, N.Y. The Greenburgh Public Library is undergoing a makeover as new signs are being installed on the premises.
During this past Friday and Saturday, residents driving by the library might have noticed some uprooting and re-digging along the grassy outskirts. The library board funded and oversaw a project to redesign the signage that directs customers to the correct parking areas and into the library.
"I think the signs look good," said Cory Deitchman, assistant to the library director. "We've gotten a little feedback, and everything I've heard has been positive. They've liked that it's slanted like the roof."
The eight redesigned signs were supposed to be included in the library's expansion when it began in 2007 but the board did not have the money at the time, said Deitchman. Some of the signs can be found at the library's Tarrytown Road and Knollwood Road entrances, as well as near the stairs that divide the parking levels.
Interior signs will start popping up around the library by March 2012. Most of the indoor signs have been ordered. The board awaits their arrival and installation.
