HARRISON, N.Y. - A New Rochelle man was arrested Friday when Harrison police found he had prescription steroids with him while driving a car with a suspended drivers license, police reports said.
Nicholas Gary, 30, of 7 Arbor Dr. in New Rochelle, was pulled over Nov. 25 when Harrison police found his vehicle belonged to a driver with a suspended license. After pulling Gary over at the intersection of North Street and Polly Park Road in Harrison, police reports said a search of his car resulted in the discovery of various prescription steroids.
Gary was placed under arrest for driving with a suspended license, a misdemeanor, and for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. In the car, police found one glass vial of a testosterone steroid in the drivers side door panel along with a spray bottle labeled "testosterone homeopathic organotherapy" and a plastic bag full of sample boxes of zyprexa drugs and unopened syringes. Gary said a doctor at St. Vincent's Hospital gave him free samples of drugs to him to treat his bipolar disorder, as he did not have medical insurance.
Police withheld the zyprexa sample along with the syringes for safekeeping. Gary was released on $200 cash bail with a return court date of Nov. 29.
