Latino U To Honor Westchester County Students

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Latino U College Access, founded by Somers resident Shirley Acevedo Buontempo, will honor exemplary Westchester County students from the Class of 2014 who are high achievers from low-income backgrounds and the first generation in their families to attend college at its graduation luncheon and celebration on Saturday, May 31 .

The celebration will take place Sam's at 50 Gedney Way, White Plains, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Latino U will recognize students from Bedford Hills, Mount Kisco, North White Plains and Ossining, as well as the efforts of their volunteer college coaches.

Expected to attend and speak are Michael Kaplowitz,  chairman of the Westchester County Board of Legislators and the Westchester Hispanic Advisory Committee, and Iris Pagan, executive director of the Westchester Youth Bureau.

Supporters of Latino U programs are invited to attend. Tickets for the event are $45 per person.
