NEW CANAAN, Conn. A 14-year-old boy attempting to cross a street on his skateboard suffered injuries after a car hit him last Thursday.
Police said the boy attempted to cross Old Stamford Road at 3:04 p.m. when a Toyota driven by a 38-year-old woman hit him. Police said the skateboarder entered the roadway at a fast pace, and she couldn't avoid him. The boy sustained head and nose injuries but was conscious at the scene. The boy was taken to Norwalk Hospital for treatment.

Roger E. Stanley, 47, was charged Monday with third-degree attempted burglary and second-degree criminal mischief. Police arrested Stanley after his release from jail in Westchester County, N.Y., as part of an investigation into a failed burglary in February 2010 on Hillcrest Road. Police said the homes resident saw Stanley in his driveway and asked him why he was there. Police said Stanley told the resident he was doing work at a neighbors house. The neighbor did not believe him, but Stanley left after squeezing his vehicle between the residents truck and a Dumpster. Police said the Hillcrest resident noticed pry marks on a side door of his home and a main level window. Police conducted an investigation and applied for an arrest warrant in March 2010. Police in Westchester County arrested Stanley on a different charge and planned to release him June 13 but alerted New Canaan officers of his release. Stanley was held on $50,000 bond and appeared June 14 in Norwalk Superior Court.
Regina Olmstead, 52, of Oenoke Ridge Road, was charged Monday with disorderly conduct, and her husband Dennis Olmstead, 53, was charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault. Police said the couple had a dispute at their home at about 8:25 p.m. Police said Regina Olmstead threw items at her husband but did not hit him. Police said Dennis Olmstead struck her in the face, injuring her eye and nose. Both appeared Tuesday in Norwalk Superior Court after being released on promises to appear.
Nicholas C. Merz, 18, of Greenwich Hill Drive, Greenwich, was charged last Wednesday with failure to display a license plate and failure to keep drugs in an original container. Police pulled Merz over at about 1:25 p.m. on New Norwalk Road after noticing his vehicles front license plate was missing. The officer who pulled him over detected the smell of marijuana in the vehicle. After Merz consented to a search, police found a clear plastic baggie with one pill of Adderall and four plastic bags with marijuana residue. Merz posted $500 bond and was ordered to appear June 29 in Norwalk Superior Court.
