Activities will start downtown at 12:30 p.m., with the annual Frosty Parade scheduled for 4 p.m.

The parade will be followed by the annual holiday-lighting ceremony at the gazebo in Wampus Brook Park.

The activities are free and open to the public.

“Frosty Day is an event that the town looks forward to every year,” said Robby Morris, president of Friends of Frosty, a nonprofit group of volunteers formed to oversee the festivities. “It’s a great time for everyone to come together and have some fun.”

Frosty Day will include miniature trains and horse-drawn wagons, along with dancers, singers, marching bands, magicians, clowns, Santa and Frosty himself.

Nearly every business, shop and merchant in Armonk is involved in the events.

Area stores and merchants will offer face-painting, frosted cookies, holiday ornament decorating and the opportunity for revelers to make their own Frosty the Snowman to carry in the parade, which will travel north on Main Street to Maple Avenue and then to the park.

More than 30 local and county-based groups and organizations will take part in the parade, which will include floats, lights, dancing, costumes and music.

Along the route, the procession will travel past the historic district in Armonk that was the inspiration for the “Village Square” where Frosty dared the children to “catch me if you can.”

Steve Nelson, who was the lyricist of the classic holiday song, was a longtime resident of Armonk.

As in the yuletide special, everyone present will be part of the parade, joining in at the end to help welcome Frosty home for the holidays.

The beloved snowman’s impending return is also providing the chance to do some good. Friends of Frosty is asking visitors to Armonk to take part in its "Help Frosty Help Others” campaign.

The effort includes collecting outdoor jackets and gear as part of its Winter Warmth project, as well as donating to the Frosty jars that are found around town at shops and restaurants.
