In this slide-accompanied lecture, Rose delves into the early history of the life of St. Nicholas, explains the various changes in his veneration and relates how he was brought to America by the Dutch in the 17th century.
He will speak at the Grinton Will Library, 1500 Central Park Avenue, Yonkers, on Saturday at 1 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
The talk encompasses such subjects as literature, religion, fine art and Dutch food. Rose has lectured at the Smithsonian Institute, the National Gallery of Art and the Culinary Institute of America as well as many historical societies throughout New York.
