Yorktown Teen Charged In Theft Of Motor Vehicle Following Crash

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 15-year-old Yorktown resident, whose name is being withheld due to his age, on a charge of juvenile delinquency in connection with the theft of a motor vehicle.

Police responded to the theft on Sunday, Dec. 27, officials report.

Subsequently, the vehicle was found in North Salem, having been damaged and abandoned as the result of an accident, according to police.

An investigation revealed that the suspect had allegedly stolen the motor vehicle, operated it and had an accident with it, police report.

The youth was located on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at the Brewster Ice Arena and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters, officials report.

The suspect was charged with juvenile delinquency; the underlying charge, had he been an adult, would have been grand larceny third degree, a class D felony, police report.

The 15-year-old was placed under arrest and transported to Woodfield Cottage, according to police.

He was scheduled to appear in Westchester County Family Court.
