More than 160 people attended ANDRUS’S fall gala, “Light Up the Night,” held Oct. 24 at the Westchester Country Club.

During the event, staff members and volunteers of the nonprofit organization honored community members Dan Bena and Andrew Malcolm.

Bena has spent more than three decades working with PepsiCo. He has advocated for children globally through his operations and sustainable development outreach work.

Malcolm annually makes a six-hour trip from Rochester to Yonkers to give holiday gifts to ANDRUS Children. Malcolm lived at ANDRUS from 1941-48, when the organization served as an orphanage.

“Our annual benefit is a celebration of ANDRUS’s commitment to children and families and a chance for us to honor individuals like Dan and Andrew who make significant contributions to their communities near and far,” Bryan R. Murphy, ANDRUS acting president and chief executive officer, said in a press release.

“We are grateful to our partners, sponsors, co-chairs, board and staff for supporting this vital work and joining us to celebrate.”
