YONKERS, N.Y. -- The Lohud Influencer Speaker Series, will feature Will Shortz, the New York Times crossword editor and puzzle master for NPR's “Weekend Edition Sunday,” at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Yonkers on May 4.
Following a screening of the documentary “Word Play,” Shortz will play interactive games with the audience. The proceeds from the event will go to the White Plains-based nonprofit MVP Basketball Camp, a group supported by Shortz. The speaker series, which debuted in February, is hosted by Engagement Editor Swapna Venugopal Ramaswamy, and features leaders in varied fields who have chosen to call the Lower Hudson Valley home.
The proceeds from the events, held at various locations, benefit local nonprofit organizations.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is located at 2548 Central Park Ave. in Yonkers. The event is at 6 p.m. with doors open at 5:30 p.m. In-theater dining and beverage service are available with tickets $12 in advance online and $15, cash-only, at the door.
