Yonkers Contractor Pleads Guilty In Tax Fraud Case

YONKERS, N.Y. -- A Yonkers contractor pleaded guilty in a Manhattan federal court to two counts of tax fraud Tuesday, according to the Westchester County Business Journal.

Tariq Tahir, 66, failed to report nearly $2.2 million in sales between 2006 and 2007. He also reportedly paid his employees in cash in an effort to skirt employer taxes, WCBJ reported. 

Tahir will be required to pay $771,000 in restitution to the IRS and an additional $112,000 to New York state. He faces a maximum of six years in prison when he is sentenced on June 5, WCBJ said.
