The decision comes after Sustainable Westchester, a group of energy advocates, petitioned to the Public Service Commission to allow residents to implement a Community Choice Aggregation program in the county, the report said.

CCA will allow residents to negotiate competitive prices from independent energy service companies, the report said.

It's still unclear which towns will initially participate in the initiative; however, Sustainable Westchester's board includes supervisors and mayors from Bedford, New Rochelle, Yonkers and White Plains, the report said.
