Most New Yorkers polled believe ‘it’s a good time to buy' and that their personal future outlook has improved even though predictions for the statewide economy remains "down and guarded."

Plans to purchase electronics, furniture and major home improvements rose among New Yorkers between September and December, the poll found.

A majority of New Yorkers said what they spend on groceries seriously impacts their finances while a third feel gas prices seriously impact their finances.

“Declining gas prices continue to drive concerns to the lowest we’ve seen in the seven years we’ve tracked it, and gas pump savings should continue to be redirected to other consumer purchases,” Levy said.

The Siena College telephone poll was conducted from Nov. 16 to Dec. 7.
