TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – A deal to buy the 300,000-square-foot Kraft Foods building in Tarrytown has been completed, the Montefiore Medical Center has announced.

The medical center plans to relocate about 850 administrative and office jobs from Yonkers and the Bronx to Tarrytown, officials said.

“We’re thrilled to be expanding Montefiore’s presence in Westchester and are proud to help support the economic vibrancy of Tarrytown and northwest Westchester,” said Ed Pfleging, vice president of facilities, Montefiore Medical Center. “This site is located close to our hospitals in the Bronx and is convenient for many of our office personnel who live in Westchester.”

Officials said the existing Yonkers offices will be used to expand it's information technology operaions, creating more space at the hospital’s centers for clinical use, officials said.

Kraft Foods plans to lease about half of the building from Montefiore, keeping about 200 jobs in Tarrytown, after announcing in January it would move most of its employees to Chicago as part of a restructuring project.

Montefiore is an academic medical center and the university hospital for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. It serves two million residents in the Bronx and Westchester.

Montefiore plans to move into the Tarrytown building beginning in the third quarter of this year.
